Books and Movies

Has anyone seen the movie The Golden Compass? I was watching it yesterday and I did enjoy it, but the way it ended just doesn’t settle with me. Is there a sequel to it or something? I was thinking about checking if there’s a book to because nowadays movies tend to have books. I mean they just can’t end it like that and not talk about a sequel. The little child has probably grown up more.

Speaking of books, has anyone read the book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult? We’re currently reading it right now. I haven’t gotten as far as I should have so I can’t tell you much about it. I do know though that it’s a really good book, It focuses on the events leading up to and following a high school shooting. Something tells me we’ll be having a prompt on a few pages today…fun right? Our teacher loves us like that. I should keep reading it, hopefully I’ll get to page 88 soon (I’m 11). I procrastinated and look where it got me…..just awesome.

Ahh I have only read one of Jodi Picoult’s books; it was My Sister’s Keeper. And no I haven’t seen the movie. I heard that it ruined the book so I don’t think I’ll bother. Jodi is a really good author though.

I think someone already nicked the name “heartdrops” on Twitter. I hate when that happens and I find it annoying to use numbers or “x” or an underscore so I just don’t bother. xP

I haven’t watched the Golden Compass but I think my friend has. It was a while ago though, and I haven’t talked to her in a while. Some movies just make no sense.

Hey hey welcome back! :D My next break is just a mini break in the middle of semester, and it’s at the end of April. I can’t wait, though it’s mostly just gonna be spent at home working on the assignments they give us. Can’t believe it’s called a break.

I don’t think I could work with people very well. I know my university course is all about working with people but I just don’t think I’d do so well in the real world.

I hate bus drivers most of the time. They are really nasty, selfish and mean. I think the guy didn’t let us on because he didn’t think there was enough room but in my opinion there was a lot of room. -_-

Yes, I have read/seen the Golden Compass. Its a trilogy (books), but am not so sure whether the sequel (The Subtle Knife) has been turned into a movie. You can google it, of course. I didn't particularly like the movie because it was very different from what I'd imagined but the books are awesome. You should definitely give them a try.
I have read a lot of books by Jodi Picoult but I am yet to arrive on Nineteen Minutes. The thing is, she makes me cry a lot. I remember I read this book called "The Songs of The Humpback Whale" and I must have howled for days. It might have made me sink into permanent depression, because it is that powerful. Let me now how Nineteen Minutes is and I might give it a try.

Yes, the original novels series is composed by 3 or 4 books; I never read the series, so I don’t know exactly. n.n;;
NewLine-Cinema never screenplayed the other books, because the 1st one – Golden Compass – didn’t do as expected in cinemas (despite the big budget they provided).

Ah, I’m a horrible person to watch movies. I can never sit still through a whole movie. Even in the movie theaters! I always end up getting up and walking outside to the restroom or something halfway through the movie. My friends hate me for that.

Nineteen Minutes sounds pretty good. But I have to read Frankenstein soon I think. Depends on what my teacher wants us to read.

Hello Isi! Gorgeous layout. (: Yes, the Golden Compass was originally a book . I am pretty it’s actually a trilogy! I read the first book and saw the movie. You should check out the book!

I have not read Nineteen Minutes. It sounds interesting, though! I am not a big fan of writing about books; my English teachers loves us like that too. /:

Nineteen Minutes sounds interesting! I miss the days when our teachers assign us a book for reading. I don’t really read a lot so those books usually leave a big impression on me. I’ll keep a look out for that novel next time I visit a library or bookstore :-)

I’ve never seen the Golden Compass before. Well, I seen parts of it when I catch it on television, but I always catch it at parts that aren’t very interesting. Pretty much 9/10 of all movies that come out are based on books in some form or another. It’s a bit sad since people don’t seem to be as original these days: “Hey! Let’s just make a movie on this book instead.”

I’ve also never heard of that book before, but it does seem like an interesting read nonetheless.

I have never seen The Golden Compass… actually I don’t know if I have even heard of it before. I’m sure I did when it first came out, but I can’t place it at the moment. Who’s in it?

I have read this book before and actually consider it one of my favorites. :) I thought it was good and would maybe even read it a second time. Hopefully you enjoy it at least a little!

Hi , Isi! I’m not sure if I’ve seen that movie. Probably, yes but didn’t like it enough for it to be retained in my mind. Yes, they’re making movies of every possible book. lol. but in the end, the written texts are still fare more better though I watch movies more than I read books. Jodi Picoult is my *favourite* author, all time. Alongside J.K. Rowling of course! So I have indeed read that book, and it was verrrrry good. In fact, all of her books are awesome! I pretty much have them all, except from a few of her most recent ones. :D I really do recommend you read a few more of her books. I LOVED Keeping Faith, thats extremely good and worth a read if you like her writing. :)

Welcome back Isi! I missed your blogs and your layouts :) Glad you are back! I never seen the Golden Compass, but I have read Nineteen Minutes. I read it for summer reading. It was the extra book I had to read. I actually enjoyed it. It was one of the better books that I had to read for school lol So that was good. Although some parts dragged, it has a good message. IT makes you question how you see your high school. I think all high schoolers should read it. I think it will help people to understand each other better.

I absolutely love the Golden Compass; it is one of my favourite films. This is probably because i’m in love with the book series which i highly recommend to you – His Dark Materials by Phillip Paulman is what the series is called. The first book is called Northern Lights despite the film title (they renamed it for some reason)
